3BQ Branding and Logo Design
BRANDING | DESIGN | ART DIRECTION
I was initially asked to create a logo for a new BBQ company in MN. Quickly, we realized it wasn’t just a logo ask, but a brand ask. From there we completed a brand brief and started designing from the ground up.
Competitive analysis
In every brief I send to clients I make sure to ask who their biggest competitor is within their industry. This allows the ability to compare and analyze what is successful and not successful within the competitor’s brand.
Aspirational analysis
In addition to competitor analysis I also ask for a list of companies that are NOT within their industry, but who they think they aspire to be like within their brand. This gives an initial jumping off point after analyzing the elements of these brands that the client admires.

Color selections
Using the competitive and aspirational analysis, we can use their strengths and weakness to base our new brand off of. The colors chosen are bright, happy, and fun - mainly warm reds and oranges. However, to add more variety and versatility two cool green/blues are also welcomed into the family.
Added versatility
Given the strength of the logo in black and white allowed for an added flare of putting the logo to use. Because the shape of a logo stays the same, we can leverage this as a template, making the logo dynamic dependent on its needs. It no longer needs to stay static, it can evolve on a case by case basis.
